Ever have conversations like this:

You: Hey, did you see that thing on the Discovery Channel?
Them: You know, I don't have time for TV.

Or :You: Have you heard that new song by, "Insert Band Name Here"...?
Them: Ah, I don't listen to music.

Or: You: Did you read that blog...?
Them: I never read blogs.

Or: You: What about that e-mail I sent you?
Them: Man, you have no idea what it's like for me, I get so many e-mails I don't even read them, I just delete them.

Or: You: There's this stripper at VIP that is so...
Them: Yeah, Not only do I not go to strip clubs, I don't like women.

Or: You: Hey this movie opens tomorrow, want to go?
Them: Saw it two weeks ago at the premiere.

Or: You: Oh, my niece's baby is still in Intensive Care and it's already been three days...
Them: Sorry, Were you talking?

Or: You: You're saying, the repairs are only gonna cost me $200?
Them: Yes.....

Them: (later) The total, with tax, labor and some other things (garbled) comes to... $1750.

This is what I deal with almost daily.

Everyone somehow tries to top you, put you down, condescend, ignore you, make fun of you, rip you off... It's like everyone in this worl has been slighted because they're not as powerful at work as they believe they should be, they've been passed on the freeway by a more powerful gas guzzler, they aren't getting what their religion is promising them, they feel they better take advantage of you, before you can take advantage of them.

Wouldn't be so bad if I could come home and crawl into your arms and hide away with you in the dim flickering candle light... But I don't know where you are.
